What is cataract surgery?
When the lens in your eye becomes cloudy, cataract surgery allows the eye doctor to remove the lens of your eye and, in most cases, replace it with a clear, artificial lens. The surgery is generally performed on an outpatient basis, in an ophthalmologist’s private surgical facility, or the outpatient area of a hospital.
Is it safe?
Cataract replacement surgery is a very common type of eye surgery, and when performed by a qualified eye surgeon, is generally a safe procedure.
Are there different kinds of cataract surgeries?
There are several different option for our patients in need of cataract replacement surgery. For our patients in need of cataract surgery we now offer the following excellent options:
- State of the art Cataract Surgery using a MONOFOCAL LENS IMPLANT. This option offers excellent return of vision, frequently needing reading glasses for near vision.
- Premium Cataract Surgery – using a MULTIFOCAL LENS IMPLANT. The resulting vision is excellent for near and far, and in most cases even without the need for glasses.
- Patients with significant astigmatism a TORIC LENS IMPLANT can greatly reduce astigmatism and the need for distance glasses.
