Cataract Surgery for patients with astigmatism
Today’s advances in cataract removal and replacement surgery also include an option for patients with astigmatism. New Toric lenses allow the eye surgeon to replace the damaged lens with a new implant that also corrects the astigmatism.
This lens requires a skilled eye surgeon, who can position the lens to compensate for differences in lens needs and power. If positioned correctly, the result is usually excellent distance vision, with a marked reduction in astigmatism. Dr. Kanner is an expert in the use of toric lenses, and can offer patients the best opportunity to correct their vision at the time of cataract surgery.
Do toric lens users still need glasses?
Like the monofocal lenses, eye surgery patients who elect this option usually require reading glasses for close-up work, even after the surgery.
